P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization), one of the pioneer societies for women, was founded on January 21, 1869, by seven students at Iowa Wesleyan College in Mount Pleasant, Iowa. P.E.O. International is headquartered in Des Moines, Iowa.

There are three P.E.O Chapters in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin--Chapter K, BD, and DO.  Chapter K is the oldest of these chapters and was founded on March 12, 1919.

Chapter K awards 3 scholarships each spring to women who live or attend school in Fond du Lac County.

Applications are due by April 15.  Winners are invited to a local chapter meeting (typically the 3rd Thursday evening in May) to receive their award.
